Mission and Objectives
The Centre of Excellence for Low-Carbon Concrete's mission is to act as a unifying forum for all key stakeholders in the construction sector (scientists, governments, accreditation agencies, and industries) with a common goal: to accelerate the development and adoption of low-carbon cements and concretes.
Green Market Readiness

The Cluster is committed to Green Market Readiness (GMR) by anticipating and responding to the industry's growing need for sustainable construction solutions, and considers the three major players in a co-construction approach to knowledge:
- Fact makers (e.g., scientists),
- artifact makers (e.g., companies),
- and legislators (e.g., policy makers)
The concept of “Green Market Readiness” involves studying disruptive technologies from three complementary perspectives:
- materials science and concrete technology
- life cycle and cost assessment
- and acceptability by society and professionals
Long-term objectives
Long-term objectives include:
- Multidisciplinary collaboration: Bring together and support experts from various fields, such as researchers, building owners, construction contractors, cementitious material producers, and public stakeholders to promote innovation in the concrete and ciment (C&C) industry.
- Innovation: Serve as a forum for discussion to stimulate innovation in the field of low-carbon concrete.
- Research and development: Develop and improve innovative materials and technologies to produce low-carbon concrete.
- Validation: Test solutions to define implementation priorities.
- Life cycle assessment: Bring in specialists to characterize concrete throughout its life cycle, ensuring a sustainable approach.
- Consideration of public policies and industry standards: Include experts in public policy and standard-setting bodies to facilitate the adoption and implementation of innovations in the C&C industry.
- Social acceptability: Assess the social acceptability of new materials to ensure their integration into the market.
- Technology transfer: Facilitate the transfer of green technologies and materials to society and the C&C industry.
- Training: Train highly qualified personnel in the development of new sustainable products that are environmentally conscious.
